Tyrod Taylor’s Elite 11 Experience

Virginia Tech’s 5-star quarterback commitment Tyrod Taylor participated in last week’s Elite 11 quarterback camp. Though the 6-1, 200-pound Hampton signal caller suffered a slight injury to his right hand before the camp began, he managed to finish out the experience in strong fashion and learned a lot as well.

“I thought I did well,” Taylor said of his performance last week. “I hurt my hand before I got out there. It swelled up and cramped up the first day, but by the end of the second day I was good and I could step into it and throw the ball real well. Once the swelling went down, I did real well.”

Rontrell Bailey (Arkadelphia, AR), John Brantley (Ocala, FL – Texas commit), Aaron Corp (Villa Park, CA – USC commit), Stephen Garcia (Tampa, FL), Logan Gray (Columbia, MO – UGA commit), Willy Korn (Byrnes, S.C. – Clemson commit), Peter Lalich (Springfield, VA – Virginia commit), Jarrett Lee (Brenham, TX – LSU commit), Brock Mansion (Dallas, TX – Cal commit), Ryan Mallett (Texarkana, TX – Michigan commit) and Keith Nichol (Lowell, MI – Michigan State commit) were the other Elite 11 participants.

Though there was an accuracy competition at the end of each day (and Taylor had to sit out one of those competitions), the experience, as far as Taylor is concerned, wasn’t about competing with other top quarterback prospects throughout the country.
