Patrick Henry (Ashland, VA) star D.J. Thomas picked up his first official scholarship offer last week, when Virginia Tech came in with an official letter. There certainly may be more to come for the 5-9, 168-pound standout athlete, as Maryland and Virginia have been showing interest as well.

“D.J. has received a written offer from Virginia Tech,” Patrick Henry assistant coach Scott Brown said.

“[Maryland assistant] Coach Bratton was watching film and he told me to stop the tape only four games in. He told me he had seen enough and that D.J. was a player. Mike Groh was visiting before and he said he loved the tape.”

Thomas recently made an unofficial visit to the University of Maryland for a junior day, an experience he called “pretty cool.” He made an unofficial visit to a UVa junior day as a sophomore and was recently at Virginia Tech for an indoor rack meet, so he has at least seen all three schools.
