Athletically and academically, Gar-Field High School (Woodbridge, VA) star Kevin Crawford has enjoyed a successful summer. On the gridiron, Gar-Field Head Coach Joe Mangano notes the improvement of his top defensive lineman from a year ago.

“He’s definitely become more consistent this year,” Mangano said of Crawford. “In our last game he led our team in tackles and tackles for loss. He’s just become a lot more consistent.”

Crawford, who was the 12th prospect to commit to UVa for the 2005 class, has played defensive tackle and defensive end for Gar-Field this season. At 6-5, 280-pound, Crawford is very athletic and has been timed earlier this year at 4.8 in the 40-yard dash.

His versatility gives the Cavaliers several options in terms of where to utilize his talents.
