Monroe Among Nation’s Best OL

There is no doubt Plainfield (NJ) star Eugene Monroe is one of the top offensive line prospects in the country. The 6-7, 320 pound tackle has his pick of scholarship offers, totaling over 40 offers at this point. Monroe first received official offers at the beginning of his junior year, with his first three being from Rutgers, Maryland, and UVa (who offered during the Florida State game last October).

Besides his size and athleticism, his confidence and work ethic have helped him become the player he is today.

“Basically I just feel no one’s going to beat me out there,” Monroe said. Next season will be his third on the varsity football squad. “I just go out there and kick butt. My top strength right now is my footwork. I don’t think any other big guys my size can move their feet like I do. That might just be technique though. I study a lot of film and practice my technique all the time.”

An excellent student as well, Monroe seeks to excel in every phase of his life. Plainfield Head Coach Clinton Jones says “the number one thing about Eugene is his determination to be number one in whatever he does. He hates to finish second in anything.”
