In large part due to a depleted field, Laurynas Mikalauskas had a relatively quiet Southern Invitational. The Boo Williams team easily defeated most opponents, but when it came time to perform again the second-best team at the event, the Playaz, Mikalauskas did not disappoint.

In the Championship game versus the Playaz, Mikalauskas scored a game-high 17 points, including 10 of the team’s first 21 points. Boo Williams would defeat the Playaz 72-64 for the SIT title.

Mikalauskas showed his toughness over the weekend, playing with a broken nose suffered about three weeks ago.

“I’m just trying to do my best,” Mikalauskas said on Saturday. “I’m trying to play as long as I can. It doesn’t make a difference if my nose is broken or not, I still have to play as hard as I can.”
