Rockbridge County High School’s (VA) Aaron Clark became the tenth verbal commitment for the University of Virginia this morning according to Rockbridge Head Coach Billy Mills. Clark, who has long favored the Cavaliers, committed five days after receiving an official offer from Coach Al Groh.

“Aaron was actually ready to commit last Thursday when they offered,” Mills said. “But I wanted him to sit on it a few days to make sure he was set on his decision. I just don’t want any of my kids decommitting or anything like that. He went to Tech this past weekend and said he enjoyed it but it didn’t change his mind.”

As a junior, the 6-6, 230 pound Clark made 69 total tackles (50 solo, 24 tackles-for-loss), nine QB hurries, six QB sacks, one caused fumble, two pass deflections, one interception, and had one caused interception from the defensive end position. He made nine receptions as a tight end on offense for 82 yards and a touchdown. Clark earned first-team Valley district and first-team Region II honors at defensive end in 2003.

Clark chose UVa over interest from West Virginia, Maryland, and UNC among others. UVa was his only scholarship offer to date, and Coach Mills indicates that UVa likes him as a jumbo athlete, possibly a tight end, offensive tackle, defensive end, or even outside linebacker.
