Mikalauskas A Big-Time Prospect

When Laurynas Mikalauskas arrived at Blue Ridge School three years ago, he was a 6-5, 180 pound small forward with good low-post moves. Two years later, he has grown three inches and added 60 pounds, turning himself into one of the top power forward prospects in the 2005 class.

This season, he averaged 18.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.

“Laurynas is a prototypical power forward,” Blue Ridge Head Coach Bill Ramsey said. “He has great skills with his back to the basket. He has very good low-post moves, including a right-handed hook. He’s a good ball-faker and can finish with his left or his right hand. He has a good medium range jump shot, which he’s very consistent with. He’s working on his three-point shot, but is starting to really become consistent with those too. When he first got here, his defense needed some work but he has gotten a lot better in that area since then.”

Mikalauskas is a physical player who also possesses very good jumping ability. He demonstrates his athleticism and strength in track and field, where he stars in the High Jump and throws Discuss and Shot-put.
