Trautwein Has 16 Offers

Phil Trautwein received another scholarship offer today, with Virginia Tech becoming the 16th team to officially extend an offer to the Eastern Regional (Voorhees, NJ) standout offensive line prospect. National Champion Ohio State heads the list of other schools jumping on the talented lineman during the spring evaluation period.

At 6-7 300 pounds, Trautwein deserves attention for his size alone. But there is more to this mammoth 17-year old than just size – he has the quickness to dominate.

“Coaches say I have great feet,” said Trautwein, who is being recruited as an offensive tackle. “I’m a good pass blocker, and I can run. I have good balance and I am powerful. Coaches tell me that it’s really hard to find a 6-7, 300 pound player who can move as well as I do.”

Wrestling has been a big factor in helping Trautwein gain better balance and footwork. He’s pretty good at it as well. As a junior, Trautwein went 23-6 in wrestling, making the state playoffs.
