Virginia Tech Men’s Soccer Upsets No. 1 Notre Dame

It was a historic Friday night for Virginia Tech, as the Hokies’ men’s soccer team upset No. 1 Notre Dame 2-1 at Thompson Field.

Virginia Tech took the lead in the 71st minute, as Marcelo Acuna scored his second goal of the night and sixth goal of the season. 

Goalkeeper Ben Lundgaard had a big performance vs. the Fighting Irish, recording 10 saves on 11 shots on goal from Notre Dame. Lundgaard’s only goal allowed came in 57th minute. 

Virginia Tech is now 4-4 on the season. Friday night’s win was the Hokies’ first ACC win of 2017, and Tech has five more conference matches remaining.
