Video: Nickeil Alexander-Walker, a Virginia Tech Hokie

We were poking around the Web tonight and found this outstanding video posted December 28th by On Point Basketball on YouTube. It’s a four-and-a-half minute video focusing on 2017 Virginia Tech basketball signee Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and although it has some highlights in it, it’s not a highlight reel. It’s a series of interviews with Nickeil, his mother, his uncle and his coaches talking about Nickeil, his life, his skills, and his decision to pick Virginia Tech.

In case you haven’t heard, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, a 6-5 shooting guard, is rated #25 in the nation in the 2017 recruiting class by ESPN, #34 by 247Sports.com, and #29 by Rivals.com. This makes him perhaps the highest-rated Virginia Tech signee ever, along with guys like Dell Curry and Dorian Finney-Smith.

It gives you a real sense of who “NAW” is, and the family he comes from. Great stuff.

  1. I love recruits that are not just good players but also good people. Buzz is bringing in some quality young men who are also talented basketball players. Like where this is going, good job Buzz.

    1. Kinda why I think Buzz will stick around for at least 4 more years, This is what he wants to do, find those kind of people. When he said McDonalds all-Americans probably wouldn’t want to play for him, I suspect it was a back-handed way of saying he didn’t want to deal with the one-and-done guys, he wants to do more with them and this is what he’s looking for.

  2. LOVE this Kid already ! He seems to be about exactly what a HOKIE is all about. Love the type of
kids Buzz is recruiting. Win, lose or draw character is what matters most.
