Three years ago, his older brother went through the recruiting process. At that point, Class of 2019 athlete Deonte Stanley was simply taking it all in from a distance as an eighth grader.

Stanley, a junior at Latta High School in South Carolina, said he learned a few things from his brother, Donell Stanley, a former Rivals 4-star offensive lineman who is now a redshirt junior at South Carolina. The younger Stanley has a pair of offers, from Old Dominion and South Carolina State. But as he continues to take in visits and wade through his recruitment, he keeps in mind what he saw his older brother do.

One thing Deonte did not inherit from his brother is Donell’s size 22 feet. Deonte wears a size 13 shoe. Despite that disparity, Deonte picked up a plenty from his brother.

“I learned a little, with recruitment and stuff,” Deonte said. “I learned to just go where you best fit at. He just tells me to keep my grades up and I have a bright future ahead of me.”
