The Miami game was a defining moment this season for this football team. Virginia Tech was able to bounce back after a disappointing loss at the Carrier Dome, and in an impressive fashion against a very talented Miami team. Last Thursday’s game reaffirms how much of an impact head coach Justin Fuente has been to this program. He kept the team focused in a short week, and had them performing on a high level on a national stage. They were able to control the game from the start, and eventually pulled away at the end in dominant fashion for a 21-point victory. Ultimately, that kind of performance is how Virginia Tech earned their #25 ranking in this week’s AP and Coaches polls.

Playing at Heinz Field

The Hokies will need to bring that same level of focus this Thursday to beat yet another division opponent, but this time on he road. It has been well covered how much Virginia Tech has struggled playing at Heinz Field. The players and coaches have answered multiple questions about the last four games played in that stadium. Defensive Coordinator Bud Foster said it best in Monday’s press conference.
