Virginia Tech Could Sign More Players Than Expected In 2017

Virginia Tech only has nine scholarship seniors on their 2016 team. They have 12 commitments for the 2017 class, and it looks as if they might sign a slightly bigger class than expected. Today we’ll take a look at Virginia Tech’s projected scholarship count for the 2017 season and see how that matches up with the amount of players they are pursuing for the 2017 class.

These scholarship numbers might not be 100% when it comes to some of the special teams players. However, if the numbers are off, they aren’t off by more than one or two. The final numbers don’t account for attrition, which is sure to happen at various points between now and the 2017 season.

Let’s attack this thing by position. Remember, this is about the 2017 season, not 2016.  As of now, the Hokies are currently projected to have 85 scholarship players in 2017 (and remember, my numbers could be slightly off).  Obviously that doesn’t give them much room to sign many more players in 2017 unless there is a substantial amount of attrition.  That’s exactly what I think we’ll see.
