Buried in the minutes from the latest BOV meeting in March are Virginia Tech’s athletic department financial numbers from the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2015.  Here’s a link to the PDF.  Warning…it’s a very long document.

The Tech athletic department hit $80 million in revenue for the first time, and it also ran a little over $2.5 million in the black.  That’s good.  But that’s not what we’re here to talk about today.  Randy Jones will go over all that in his annual financial article later this spring/summer.

When I went through Tech’s revenues and expenditures, my eyes were drawn to something in the expenses section.  For the first time ever, the athletic department listed recruiting expenses in its own separate entity.  Here’s what jumped out at me…
