Give your midseason reviews in the categories you choose, and then talk about what you expect for the second half of the season.

Hokie CPA: Midway through the season I certainly didn’t think we were going to be 3-3. I was thinking 5-1, 4-2 at worst. The reasons we’ve come up short are well-documented, and honestly they sound a lot like excuses at this point. So screw it… we’re 3-3 and we need to own it.

My big point of contention at the start of the season was that I felt the offensive line would put it all together this season and be a force to be reckoned with at the end of the season. To be honest, I still expect that to happen. We’ve seen glimpses of it this season, but I want to see the Big Uglies get mean. They let Pitt beat the tar out of Brenden Motley and they should have risked a few penalties coming to their quarterback’s defense. You just don’t let your QB get hit after the whistle. Ever.

Against NC State, we saw them move some bodies and create some lanes in the running game. That needs to continue. I’d really like to see the light come on and these guys really come together this weekend, and it could happen. Then again, it might not. So we’re still waiting for the OL to show that spark, and I’ve said all along they’d get through half the season before it became evident so I don’t feel I’ve changed my tune on this at all.
