2014 Report: WR Jamil Kamara

Jamil   Kamara’s   first   scholarship   offer   came   during   his   freshman   year,   when   he   was   offered   by   the   University   of   Virginia.    The   6’2″,   195-pound   wide   receiver   prospect,   now   just   weeks   from   finishing   up   his   sophomore   year,   claims   10   other   offers   now   as   well.

“It’s   real   nice,”   Kamara   said,   speaking   of   the   success   he   has   enjoyed   on   the   recruiting   front.    Boston   College,   Illinois,   Marshall,   Miami,   N.C.   State,   Vanderbilt,   Virginia   and   Virginia   Tech   are   the   major   FBS   schools   that   have   offered   so   far.    “I   appreciate   everything   I   get.    I’ve   worked   very   hard   for   it.”

Playing   on   Princess   Anne   High   School’s   (Virginia   Beach,   VA)   varsity   football   squad   his   first   two   seasons,   Kamara   was   an   honorable   mention   all-Beach   District   selection   in   2010   and   a   second-team   all-district   pick   in   2011.     Plus   size   and   ball   skills   were   enough   to   sway   the   Virginia   coaches   into   the   early   offer,   he   said,   and   those   two   factors   continue   to   be   strengths   of   his   game.

“I   can   go   up   and   get   the   ball.    That’s   the   number   one   thing   [college   coaches   say   they   like],”   Kamara   said.    “I   have   good   hands.    I   have   above   average   speed   for   my   size.    I’m   bigger   than   most   receivers.”
