Virginia Tech has secured another commitment from this past weekend’s Spring Game. Today, Thomas Dale (Chester, VA) safety/wide receiver Desmond Frye joined the Hokies 2012 recruiting class, which is now up to eight commits including three since Saturday.

“Desmond committed to Tech today,” said Kevin Tucker, head football coach at Thomas Dale, which produced former Tech standout running back Ken Oxendine. “He had a great weekend visit up there, really enjoyed the Spring Game, and his parents have just fallen in love with the place.”

Frye chose Tech, which was the first school to offer, over an offer from UVa. He attended Tech’s junior day in February and visited Virginia twice before coming to this decision.

Frye is a two-way standout for the Knights.
