Bud Foster will be busy when practice opens on Wednesday. His starting mike,
Barquell Rivers, is out for the spring. He’ll also be trying to solve depth
issues at both inside linebacker positions. At whip, Jim Cavanaugh must replace
Cody Grimm and Cam Martin, and the depth chart is wide open.

Chances are good that we will see players move back and forth from position
to position this spring. Where players will start and finish the spring is
anybody’s guess at this point.

We could see players move back and forth between mike and backer, and we could
also see certain whips get a look at the rover position. We’ll cover rover
tomorrow in the defensive backs article.
