Believe it or not, college basketball season has arrived. Teams began
practicing in the middle of October, and the Hokies are just a couple of weeks
away from their season opener against Brown on November 15. Tech loses
outstanding scorer A.D. Vassallo, as well as rebounding specialist Cheick
Diakite. Those are tough losses to overcome, particularly Vassallo. If the
Hokies want to return to the NCAA tournament, they need some guys to step up and
turn into scorers.

This is the first in a two-part basketball season preview. Today we’ll look
at the current player personnel, and next week we’ll go over Seth Greenberg’s
lineup options and the schedule the Hokies will be facing.
