Which Sport will Miller Choose?

Bassett High School (VA) junior Andrew Miller is a standout in football and wrestling. He stars at offensive guard and defensive tackle for the Bengals varsity football squad, and he recently captured a heavyweight Group AA state championship in wrestling. He’ll have to pick one sport or the other in college, though, and the decision could be a tough one to make.

“I haven’t decided yet,” the 6-5, 275-pound Miller replied when asked if he would wrestle or play football in college. “It is a tough decision. There are a lot of factors that will go into what I do, but it is about even right now I guess.”

Miller’s preference early on in high school easily was football, but he has really taken a liking to wrestling as well. In fact, he performs on the AAU wrestling circuit in the offseason. Last year, he traveled all the way to New Mexico and Oklahoma to take part in some of those meets.

“At first, I got into wrestling to have something to do so I wouldn’t get out of shape for football,” Miller said. “It led to something I really got into. It is a hard sport. I really like the competition.”
