Brooks Talks Recruiting, Season

Duquesne (PA) 5-11, 215-pound running back Shane Brooks has worked hard this off-season to improve his speed. Originally clocking consistently at a 4.6 in the 40 yard dash, Brooks has shaved some time off his 40 just before the start of his senior season.

“I’m down to a 4.50,” Brooks said. “I haven’t done anything different. I’m just running a lot. I run 3 times a week and work-out with the team 3 times a week. I have lost a couple of pounds. I’m at 215 right now. I didn’t have to lose weight to make myself quicker. I’m fast with or without the weight.”

A faster Brooks spells trouble for opposing defense. It also no doubt excites the schools recruiting the tough, versatile back. The schools heavily involved and who have offered at this point include Virginia, Maryland, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Missouri, Indiana and Connecticut, among others.

Brooks says not much has changed in terms of his recruiting situation. UVa remains his leader and he still wants to wait until after his senior season to take official visits and make his decision.
