Top Target: Carl Grimes

A new name emerging recently for Virginia Tech fans has been Carl Grimes, a 5-9, 185 pound running back/wide receiver prospect from St. Martin Deporres in Detroit, Michigan. He is one of the most exciting players in the state of Michigan. As a junior, he wracked-up just under 1,800 yards combined rushing and receiving and scored 15 touchdowns

Moreover, Grimes is as well-mannered a student athlete off the field as he electric on it. He has become a favorite of St. Martin Deporres head coach Gregory Carter over the past few years.

“Carl has been a starter for us since the latter part of his freshman year, and he hasn’t missed a game since,” said Carter. “He plays running back for us but flanks out occasionally. He plays cornerback on third down situations. Off the field, he is an outstanding kid and a great student. I can’t say enough good things about Carl – he’s one of my favorites.”

Grimes is one of the fastest players in the state, as he has been timed at 10.7 in the 100 meters. His skills have earned him scholarship offers from Virginia Tech and Florida State, two teams who are high on his list of schools. Most of the Big Ten along with a few ACC programs (GT and UNC) are heavily involved as well.
