Demetrius Taylor

Notes: At middle linebacker, Taylor is the leader of Floyd Kellam's defense. As a junior, he averaged over 10 tackles per game. He also rushed for the most touchdowns on the team last season from the fullback position.

Taylor excels at track as well.

Coach DeWitt: “He can run like no one his size. He’s our fastest sprinter. He runs a 4.5, but we’ve timed him under 4.5 before. He can bench press 355 pounds, and his squat is huge. We do hand-cleans, and Demetrius can hand-clean 325 pounds, which is our highest ever.

“What separates him on the field is his knowledge of the game and his discipline. We need him to do a lot of stuff out there, and he has the discipline to stay within our system. His stats won’t amaze you, but he’s playing very effective within our defensive scheme. He does what he’s supposed to do.”
