Johnny Hamilton Signs With Virginia Tech Basketball

Jacksonville College (Jacksonville, TX) sophomore Johnny Hamilton has signed a letter of intent with Virginia Tech, Jaguars head coach Jody Bailey said this evening.

Hamilton, a 7’0″ center, made an official visit to Virginia Tech this past weekend. He also had interest/offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Houston, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, SMU, Tennessee, Tulsa, Washington State and Wichita State.

Hamilton plans to enroll at Virginia Tech this summer along with high school recruits Kerry Blackshear, Chris Clarke and Justin Robinson.

    1. When was the last time we had 2 seven-footers on the team, never? (or even one, Earnest Wansley was 6’11”) Back in the 70s that seemed to be a bigger deal than now, thinking of guys like Artis Gilmore, but I still get an old school kind of thrill out of it.

  1. Love it. With this class we add a 6’6″, a 6’8″, and a 7’0″ player. That should help our vertically challenged issues of the previous season.
