Introducing Whit Babcock

Whit Babcock met with the media for the first time on Wednesday afternoon.  Below is a video of his opening statements.

We’re going to have a lot more on the Babcock hire later this week.  Later this afternoon we’ll have a video interview with former Tech running back Kevin Jones, who served on the search committee.

  1. He is so real and so impressive. We have hit a home run with the new AD and also the new president. VT is on the right track for the next decade overall. This Hokie could not be prouder. By the way, I watched the entire interview with Kevin Jones. What an impressive young man!

  2. Wow – this guy’s the real deal!!! No wonder he has been so effective at fundraising and was able to hire a big name coach and Cinny…

  3. Times are “a changing”. Tech really hit the ball out of the park with this hire. Some really good quotes from this guy also like “”Having great character doesn’t automatically make you a great leader, but nothing can tear down leadership faster than poor character.” the endorsement comments from Bobinski were extremely solidifying for me. We go from the oldest AD who hands down a fiscally sound situation to the youngest AD who is gifted at many things. Hearing kevin jones speak was also a treat. For once in, I think Tech is about to get on track to get what we all want wrt to football trophys. I just really think that. CFB is really doing a great making up for lost time with coaching search due diligence. I just really feel hopefully and I have tangible things to point to that make me feel that way.

  4. Is it just me, or does he look like Peyton Manning when he looks down at his notes? He has the Peyton forehead! Welcome to the Hokie nation Payton, err, Whit…

      1. Did you hear him? “Invite” everyone to participate. INVITE, as in “reach out & welcome in”.
It’s called recruiting. How many athletes go to any school if they aren’t recruited, asked, invited to join the team. There’s another team at VT, it’s called the Hokie Club.

Welcome Home, Whit! You are a Hokie from day one.
