VT-MD to kick off at 12:30

Virginia Tech’s final home game of the season against Maryland will kick off at 12:30pm, and the game will be televised by The ACC Network.

Maryland, which has suffered through some tough injuries recently at the wide receiver position, is 5-3 overall and 1-3 in the ACC.  The Hokies will either be 7-3 (4-2 ACC) or 6-4 (3-3), pending the result of this weekend’s Miami game.  The Terps play Syracuse this weekend.

Barksdale suspended

In other news, junior power forward C.J. Barksdale has been suspended for the first three games of the season for the dreaded “violation of team rules”.  Barksdale started 30 games for the Hokies last season, averaging 5.6 points and 4.7 points per game.  His absence means that sophomore Marshall Wood will likely get the starting nod.

Barksdale will miss the following games…

Saturday, November 9: USC Upstate
Tuesday, November 12: West Virginia (ESPN, 1pm)
Friday, November 15: Western Carolina

  1. No night games this year…According to Jim Weaver he has successfully delivered on what the fans wanted. congrats, Jim!

  2. re 1230 start, hard to expect anything else..we are non-interesting and a few turnovers away from irrelevant. For those who clamored for no thursday night games, you got your wish. A season of noon home games with a less than full stadium.
Lots of griping about the team losing it’s fire but i think 10+ years of Hokies Respect warm-fuzziness has castrated this fan base. Think back to some wild and wicked night games at Lane. That’s the environment that brings in recruits.
Bring out the brie for the nooner against the Terps. Wear your cravat and blazer, it’s going to be chilly. Cabbell Massie IV will be hosting the champagne brunch in Lot 2.

  3. Wouldn’t be VT basketball if we didn’t lose a couple of players before the 1st game. Usually it would be due to injuries though.
