I just wish we would STOP with the zone blocking read option crap and line up in the I, put a hat on a hat and run the tailback behind the fullback through a designated gosh-danged hole. There is NO REASON why this program shouldn't be able to find 5 fat guys who can move some people out of the way and clear a lane for a back to get through!
The tipping point for the Big East was Pitt's decision to bail out, along with Syracuse.
That caused TCU to look around, and TCU was thrilled to death to find a spot in the Big 12. In turn, WVU sued its way out of the Big East.
Pitt figured out that losing TCU and WVU from the 2012 Big East home schedule cost it two home games, one of which (WVU) is its biggest regular draw. Pitt had already bought out a game to get TCU on the 2012 schedule, so it really cost Pitt more than two home games. As a result, Pitt is sore that the Big East let TCU leave without penalty and sore that the Big East settled with WVU, even though there is a strong argument to be made that Pitt started this process. So now, Pitt is suing the Big East for these losses and - surprise, surprise - for its own early release from the Big East.
The Big East's response to the Pitt lawsuit is to sue TCU. If the Big East loses its claim against TCU, that undermines the arguments Pitt is making in the other lawsuit, raising the cost of Pitt's exit and leaving more $$$ for the remaining Big East members. If the Big East prevails against TCU, that also undermines Pitt's arguments while giving more $$$ for distribution for the remaining Big East members, albeit less from Pitt's wallet.
What a mess.
No trees were harmed in the making of this post. However, billions of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.
