Opening round was a tough draw getting #2 ranked BYU. BYU has the #1 scorer in the nation, the national assists leader, the national points leader and the nations leader in goals per game, oh yeah, its all the same guy. NEVER seen that one before. It seems it was too tall an order for this Hokie team. I'll have more a little later, all I've got for now is the score. Tough day at the office.

Well, the Hokies didn't go quietly. The Cougars came out and started right in on the Hokies putting Tech in a 3-1 hole by the end of the first quarter. The Hokies were still in it down only two goals after one and turned it loose it the second quarter. They had a very strong offensive showing hanging 6 goals on BYU while giving up 4. And just like that the Hokies are tied with the Cougars at the half.
The third quarter saw BYU make the necessary adjustments and reclaim the lead by the end of three quarters taking a three goal lead 12-9. The fourth quarter did not shape up like the second quarter as BYU showed why they're the #2 team in the country. The Hokies just simply couldn't keep pace as BYU ran away with it putting Tech away with a 7-2 fourth quarter run.
Our boys were in it till the end but there just wasn't enough in the tank. It's been a little while since the Hokies went to the national championships. Maybe that made a difference, maybe not but this I know for sure, its a GREAT season anytime you win your conference. And all the more important is this conference championship was their second. It's good to get that one trick monkey off your back, "multiple" conference championships sounds better.
All American lists should be coming out soon. I think our last one was Tim Tyrell in 2008. I don't think we had any last year. Academic AA list should also be published soon. Until then...
