...I hope the ACC is on the phone with Notre Dame to see if we can get them over here so that we can renegotiate the ESPN contract. ACC football is already weak--losing FSU and Clemson would be nothing short of devastating to the conference. You can't sugarcoat a loss like FSU/Clemson combination.
Getting Notre Dame would be a Hail Mary (ha, no pun intended), but that's the ACC's best bet for surviving as a legitimate football conference. If FSU and/or Clemson leave for the Big XII, I say VT gets out to the SEC. I'm not at all a fan of going to the SEC, but if ACC football is gutted then it's time to move on. Football is utterly critical to Virginia Tech's athletic budget--it funds literally the entire athletic department and runs a nice profit. We can't afford to let our program get gutted by a collapsing ACC.
