No, total salary of $680K, base of $245K, retention of $375, then some incidentals thrown in to bring it up to $680K. Car allowance, country club membership, season tickets, etc.

may not be alot relative to the other hc's but i was more or less focusing on going from $190k to $680k (which includes his talk/radio shows, etc., in addition to his base). i mean, the sports aspect aside, that's a heck of a raise, no? (plus he was making like, $142k before he went to clemson). hey, i'd take it...

as it should be based on his experience level. Bring in recruits, win and it can increase accordingly.

There are at least a handful of coaches in Virginia that are paid more. UVA, UR, VCU, ODU and GMU all pay their headcoaches more than VT. Not good

At time of hiring he didn't make nearly that much with 14 yrs experience is what I was getting at. JJ with 0 years getting $680k seems pretty legit.

Damn, a $680k salary will go a long ways in Blacksburg.

Yeah, that's another good point. Of course, their AD's focus more on their basketball programs than Jim Weaver.
