A JJ hire fits Weaver's criteria. A safe hire that should keep the team perfromamance from sliding too much if JJ can keep the recruits and current players on board. Unknown if the program will get better but likely not worse based on JJ's recruiting track record.

Somewhat disappointing that this was not done sooner if JJ turns out to be the "man". It was pretty evident early on that none of the "hot" coaches were interested in coming to Blacksburg.

You left out the other 24 guys who were rumored (within the past 24 hours) to be the coach

Is it possible he was discussing this with his family and asked for more than 45 MINUTES to make his decision?? Just saying!

Wow, if the athletic department won't buy into basketball, why should fans?

This one foot in, one foot out, "basketball on a budget" approach is nauseating. We're in the freakin' ACC...go strong or go home.

You just built a gazillion dollar basketball practice facility, but then fire an experienced coach in favor of one of his assistants...so obscure he's unknown to Wikipedia. Yeah, lets give that guy the reins to an ACC program as his first head coaching gig.

    Bunch of morons.

Only time will tell how he will transform into a HC but, for right now, I can certainly live with that!!

Mind if I save this post? Come on, give the man a chance. He's a darn good assistant who deserves the oppurtunity. He was going to get one in the near future anyways. Might as well be here.

You should change your handle to Tech-NON-support. You and no one else knows how this will all turn out. At least give the guy a chance before you damn him. He was the best liked AC we have had in a while, an excellent recruiter and communicator. Every successful coach out there was promoted from an AC to HC at some point in their careers!! At least we have a good idea of what we have with him.
