I think Jerry Palm might've personally cost us that bid two years ago, haha. He was on every media outlet imaginable saying we needed to go, like, 12-4 in the ACC to get in because of our historically bad non-conference schedule. Where's that talk about Cincinnati this year? Their non-conference schedule this year (and performance against that schedule) is worse than ours was two years ago. They lost to Presbyterian. But they go 12-6 and finish 4th in the Big East and none of that matters (and, obviously, it shouldn't).
But it didn't work that way for us. And I love all this retroactive re-positioning of the bubble as being relatively strong the last couple of years. What the hell? The most common media descriptor of the bubble the last two seasons was, I'm sure, "tissue-paper thin." This isn't conspiracy theory stuff, it's just pointing out analytical fails.
