^^^Exactly time after time we will play up or down to anyone, hallmark of VT hoops
Competing and winning are two different things. Coaches get fired based on wins not on effort or perceived over-achieving. Not advocating anything, just the nature of a very competitive business.
This season is a perfect example of this... The team has been fantastic against UNC, Duke, FSU, and UVA, the top 4 teams in the league. Yet against BC, GT, and Wake, the bottom 3 teams in the league, they have looked atrocious. THAT is on the coach.
I'm not saying this lost the game, but what I'm kinda tired of is his attitude. Watch Coach K (and, yes, I despise him) and see how he exudes confidence and the "we expect to win" attitude. Then watch SG--whine, groan, whoa-is-me. The players pick up on the coach's attitude and behavior. That's why Duke players have the "we know we can" attitude. It works both ways. That's also why the ACC refs (most of whom probably didn't want us in the league anyway) tend to have a good time making calls that prompt those reactions from Seth. Just my opinion.
"The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep...and miles to go before I sleep" -- Robert Frost
Some of that credit has to go to SG for these young guys improving, individually and as a team
Why isn't that coaching that the team that couldn't beat Wake in December is now right with the big 4 week in and week out?
