ACC Men's Swimming Championships - Men in 3rd, less than 20 points behind

1st place UVA. This is turning out to be one of the most competitive Men's Swimming Championships in a long time. If you can, get over there today to support the team. We already know the diving results so Tech gets 48 points, FSU 57, UNC 20 and UVa 15. This puts Tech in the lead with the swimming events left - 1650 (I think this is a weakness), 200 Back, 200 Breast, 200 Fly and 100 Free.

Barring a major failure in the 400 Free Relay, Tech Men should walk away with 2nd place in their best ACC finish. Congratulations to all the swimmers, divers and coaches.

This is a major accomplishment. VT is forging ahead and now making elite swim programs like UVa's sweat until the last couple events. Since this is not a negative development, there will be very little observance of it on this site.

Great accomplishment for the men's team. Was in 1st place for a portion of the last day. UVA just too strong in the end. We're getting extremely close to an ACC championship in this sport. Congratulations to the team.

Solid no doubt and I'm happy for the swim program! Regarding your last sentence, don't forget that sadly, it's human nature and not just VT fans. Also, you've got to take into account the popularity of the sport with regards to the amount of attention this will/has receive(d). Lastly, 2nd place shows great improvement, but being THE champion will get a team far more recognition.
