and one of the most meaningful trends we have is that we won't make the tourney very often
and a second is that we won't be very capable in half-court offense
both are very frustrating
Perhaps we need to focus on SG's assistant coaches. They are very instrumental in recruiting.
By the way, I don't buy it either. ACC and our great facilities should be a plus...maybe we should ask our recruits why they are not buying into SG's operation.
Here's my take. Human nature is such, and 18 year old kids especially, if you ask them why they didn't choose you, are not likely to say "I don't like the coach", or "I don't buy what he's selling", or "Virginia Tech sucks". Instead they're gonna give you an easy answer. "It's too far away", or "Too rural", or "Too cold".
That's easy. Doesn't hurt anyone's feelings. You're shooting down a place, not a person. And if you're the coach, or scouting bureau it's an easy cop out. "It's not me, it's the crappy location".
Of course, then the kid signs with Kansas State, or Syracuse, or Notre Dame and you're left scratching you head.
Location? It's an excuse if you let it be an excuse. Kids will flock to a good coach wherever.
"Just let it go Harry...Let it go."
It's called reality. He never said coaches won't come here. He's talking about established coaches are not waiting with baited breath to flock to VT.
As to his "depressing" posts? Most of your posts make CvilleHoops messages seem like manna from heavan.
no, frankly we don't "all know" it would've been better. The results are what they are...any given year, it's not a big deal to give a pass to bad luck. Year after year, it's tiring and might be time for a change.
