Caleb Tanner, Floyd Co.: 59 pts, 33-33 FTs in OT win vs CBurg...

Taking a 2A team to a win over 3A (now 1-6A divisons in VA) Cburg 103-90 in season opener. Wonder if 33-33 is a national FT record of some kind?

Tell us more about this kid. Is Coach Johnson looking at him?

He's been talking to him, offer could happen with attrition or be an invited walk-on...right now, he looks like a Big South shooting guard. He's probably 6'1" but 160 LBs soaking wet. In other words, shooting guard skills in pt guard body. I think he's probably headed to Big South or West Point. He's probably similar to Rowsey from Rockbridge except Rowsey's a little stronger with more PG skills

Ditto in game 2...back to back games with 59 pts in each to open the season!

Tanner goes for 59 AGAIN vs. Pulaski Co.

Sounds exactly what we heard about Dell's boys. Too small...they'll never succeed in "big boy" basketball.

Yeah, this is what I don't understand. College basketball is filled with undersized guards that can shoot the lights out. Yeah, big athletic bodies are nice but there's always a need for a kid that can fill up the basket from 3 point range like they're shooting layups. You could say that Adam Smith is undersized and he's certainly fitting in well for us.

If this kid has Curry-type skills, I hope they don't let him get away like we did the Curry boys. That still irks me to no end.

    Yeah, I know...some might say he's a defensive liability

but if he's a defensive liability, won't he sort of fit in with what we have now, but provide an offensive threat.

I don't know if we have room, but if we do have room late, it's definitely worth a shot IMO

For every one of "Dell's boys", there's about 10,000 kids who would get owned in ACC Bball. Those 160 lb non athletes will get gloved once Coach K sees them out on the floor. Curry's kids grew and worked their butts off to become athletes once they got to the big time, most kids won't.

I did just read up on this kid. He might be worth a gamble. He's played all over the country in the off season and he seems committed to the weight room and improving his defense and rebounding. You can see that he's becoming much more of an athlete each year in the pics from Google. Anyhow, if he keeps working,, he may get a shot.

What's he shooting from the floor? Is he just jacking up 100 shots a game or is he efficent? He's obviously efficient at the charity stripe so I can only assume he is a sharpshooter, just curious.
