Chris Kraft played baseball for VT

I was poking around Wikipedia a few days ago, and discovered this:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_C._Kraft,_Jr.
It says that even though Kraft graduated from VT in two years (didn't know that either, until now), he found time to play baseball, and batted .340 one season.

It was more like 3 years (Sept 1942 to Dec 1944). Not unusual during the war. Kraft was 4F because he was burned as a child. According to his book Flight, he was told by the military to get his degree. The war effort needed Engineers also. I first met Dr. Kraft when he visited the Aerospace Engineering Department soon after his Time magazine cover. Our Department Chair, Dr. Eades, was one of his Tech classmates.
