UR professor thinks Spiders should drop to D-III, a position NOT shared by UR's Pres.

And I doubt his position would be supported by many of their alumni, either. They do pretty well, athletically, for such a small school (around 3,000 students.) Their alumni base has lots of green to go around. See story....

If you polled professors at any school, I'd be willing to bet you'd get a majority wanting to de-emphasize sports (regardless of the current level). Like you said, AIN'Ta gonna happen at UR!

Guarantee he is no longer the Richmond faculty representative. Richmond has huge private endowment and continued levels of contribution would reduce if there is any image of Richmond not being a comprehensive private institution .

While not a fan of Richmond they appear to be very well balanced program that ties to the university goals

I knew a husband and wife who were both professors at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln who felt the same way as the UR professor. I would listen to them complain about it but knew what they wanted would never happen.

I'm sure the ODAC would love to have them.

Agreed about professors. Some lobe bigtime athletics, most don't.
