Senior linebacker Andrew Motuapuaka has said that earning the No. 25 jersey before he graduates and leaves Virginia Tech was one of his personal goals this season. On Thursday, he achieved that goal, as head coach Justin Fuente announced Motuapuaka would wear No. 25 vs. Pittsburgh on Saturday.

This is the first time Motuapuaka has earned the No. 25 honor. The redshirt senior has been a mainstay on the Virginia Tech defense for three seasons now, starting every game since his sophomore season. Motuapuaka is on pace to have his best season since 2015, and has already recorded 75 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh will kick off at 12:20 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18. It will be Senior Day for the Hokies, as Tech’s seniors will be recognized and honored before the game.
Great choice; great young man and one hell of a competitor who has earned this recognition!!!
