Frank Beamer On Ballot for College Football Hall of Fame

Former Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer is a legend in the college football world. Soon, he may have another achievement to add to his legacy.

The College Football Hall of Fame announced their 2018 ballot on Thursday, and Beamer was one of six FBS coaches named to the ballot. Mack Brown, Jim Carlen, Pete Cawthorn Sr., Billy Jack Murphy and Darryl Rogers were the other coaches named to the ballot. 

Also on the ballot are 75 FBS players and 98 players and 31 coaches from the lower ranks of college football. 

In order for a coach to become eligible, they must be retired from the game for three seasons or be retired from coaching be at least 70 years old. Coaches must be a head coach for at least 10 seasons, have coached in 100 games and have a .600 winning percentage.

The Hall of Fame Class of 2018 will be announced on Jan. 8, 2018 in Atlanta, the site of the CFP National Championship.
