Linebacker Eron Carter, linebacker Tre Hubbard and holder Wright Bynum are no longer with the Virginia Tech football team, according to the Roanoke Times’ Andy Bitter.
Carter, a redshirt-freshman, signed with Virginia Tech in the Class of 2016 as an inside linebacker. The Florida-native was a 3-star recruit coming out of high school, but figured to be fighting for a reserve role at linebacker with Rayshard Ashby, Dylan Rivers and Jaylen Griffin enrolling over the summer at linebacker. Rico Kearney enrolled for the spring semester and is currently injured.
Hubbard, a sophomore, walked-on to Virginia Tech last season, primarily playing special teams. Hubbard appeared in just three games last season at linebacker, and also would’ve been fighting for a reserve position this fall.
Bynum redshirted for Virginia Tech in 2015 and served as the team’s place kick holder last season. Bynum was also a walk-on.
Good luck to you guys and thanks for all you did to help the Hokies.
When people ask how the numbers will work out…this, this is how the numbers work out. Thanks to all these guys for their contributions to the team! Go Hokies!
