PJ Horne Signs With Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech announced today that 6-6, 230-pound forward PJ Horne has signed his National Letter of Intent with the Hokies, making him the third signee in Buzz Williams’ highly-regarded 2017 basketball recruiting class.

Horne, from Tift County High School in Tifton, Georgia, was high school teammates with Hokie point guard Tyrie Jackson, who joined the Hokies last year and redshirted during the 2016-17 season.

P.J. Horne is a great addition to our recruiting class,” Williams said in a statement. “He fits our program well and gives us an inside-out player who knows the value of hard work and doing the right thing. He comes from a high school program that is a proven winner, that annually turns out not only great players, but outstanding individuals, like Tyrie Jackson. P.J. will have an impact on our program, both on and off the court.”

As a high school senior, Horne averaged 25.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game, and for his career, he scored 1,671 points, grabbed 811 rebounds and had 203 blocks.

Horne joins point guard Wabissa Bede and shooting guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker as 2017 signees for Virginia Tech. Tech’s three-man 2017 class is currently ranked 16 nationally by 247sports.com, 18th by Rivals.com, and 24th by Scout.com.

  1. This is really good news. Not so good; J Giles has died. What a drag it is getting old.
