The recruiting train is still rolling for Virginia Tech, as the Hokies added another commitment on Friday from offensive lineman Luke Tenuta.

Teunta is a 6-foot-7, 270-pound recruit from Western Albemarle High School in Crozet, Va. He’s rated as a 3-star recruit by 247Sports, and holds 14 scholarship offers. Of those offers, North Carolina and West Virginia are the only other Power 5 programs to offer.
Virginia Tech now holds commitments from three offensive linemen. Tenuta joins Jordan McFadden and John Harris as commitments for the ’18 cycle, and 2017 signee Christian Darrisaw will enroll this winter. The Hokies now hold commitments from 23 players, putting Tech closer to the limit of 25 scholarship players per class.
Tenuta is also the fourth commitment for Virginia Tech from the Commonwealth. The Hokies hold in-state commitments from running back Cole Beck (Blacksburg), athlete Armani Chatman (Virginia Beach) and linebacker Keshon Artis (Chesapeake), who committed to Virginia Tech on Tuesday.
His father Jon, played @ UVA, was the DC @ GT and UVA – and his kid is going to play for us? This is amazing.
UVA didn’t offer a kid in their own back yard?
Why is this kid only 3*!?
Is he not athletic enough to get the 4*, not played football that long or just an avg OL recruit? Seems like he has huge upside!
WOW – AN OFFENSIVE LINEMAN……………WELCOME AND LET ME SAY TO THE COAHCES – IT’S ABOUT TIME!
I’ve been wondering for several years who the last big recruit out of Western Albemarle was. My kids lived in Crozet and would have gone there, but my son wanted ROTC, and my daughter wanted a pre-med type program, so they went to Monticello since Western didn’t have those programs.
Anyone know what FCS recruits have come out of Charlottesville in recent years? Heck, I can’t remember the last Tech recruit out of Charlottesville. Sands Woody(?), but he was back in the 1960s.
Sands Woody was from Roanoke (Cave Spring High School, I believe).
Yep
Reggie Butler was an OL from Monticello HS in Cville. Played at Tech in early 2000s.
Bronco wanted him to go on a two year mission trip before enrolling!!
Strange no offer from UVa. Western Albemarle is next exit west on 64 from where Bronco lives. Exit 114 to exit 107 in the same county.
Smoke from the toaster clouded the room and blocked Bronco’s view.
UVa fired his old man. UVa never recruited him b/c it was pretty clear that that is a tough deal to ask a high school kid to look past.
Yeah, I thought he was Jon Tenuta’s son. From what I have read about the “star” rankings, the difference between 3-star and 4-star is a very blurred line.
Thank you. I posted before reading your’s.
