There were plenty of people who sat or stood through the rain Saturday night at Lane Stadium. Baylor School (Tenn.) three-star offensive tackle Walker Culver (6-5, 260) was one of them.

The rain fell steadily, and at times fell hard, throughout Virginia Tech’s 24-3 win over Duke. But Culver stayed for the duration. He committed to Colorado just before Thanksgiving last year. However, the door has remained open for a few programs, including the Hokies.

A final decision could still be a few months away, and Culver is still gathering a bit of information. He picked up a few nuggets Saturday during his first unofficial visit to Virginia Tech.

“Things were a little busy with it being game day,” Culver said. “But I did get to see a little of what their daily life is like. I hung out in the athletic facilities, then met with tutors, saw the academic part. I just had some great questions answered and met them all in person. Overall, it was just a good visit.”
