Virginia Tech football cornerback Adonis Alexander did not make the trip to East Carolina this weekend, because he has “not lived up to our expectations at Virginia Tech,” according to a release from Virginia Tech.

This is the second time Alexander has been held back from a team trip during his tenure at Virginia Tech. Alexander served a one-game suspension in the 2016 season vs. Liberty, after being sentenced to community service and probation due to a marijuana possession charge from April 2016. Alexander returned to play vs. Tennessee in the Battle at Bristol in week two. So far in 2017, Alexander has 14 tackles, one tackle for loss and three pass breakups.

This news come just days after Virginia Tech indefinitely suspended linebacker Tavante Beckett on Monday. Beckett was arrested on Monday and charged with possession, and conspiracy to sell/distribute marijuana. It is unclear when or if Beckett will return to Virginia Tech’s team, or if his suspension is connected with Alexander’s situation.

  1. I remember some of the starting players smoking pot in the mid 70’s when I was there. Why are we acting like this is something new. It’s not a capital offense. Let’s let CJF handle the disciplinary matters.

  2. If there were a connection between AA and TB AA would have been suspended from the team. The fact that he was simply left at home for a game may well indicate something a bit less serious: violated curfew, did not show up to a classes for a few days, something like that. If it were more serious, a repeat of what he did last year for example, I think he would have actually been suspended.

  3. Smoking Beckett’s weed. Give these kids a $100K education and see how much they appreciate it. Kick him off the team. He can go play at Hampton U.

    1. I’m with u. We’re the ones paying their way and some don’t appreciate it whatsoever. Next up.

  4. Character counts. Those who let down their team with selfish pursuits do not deserve to be on that team.

    1. Exactly! If you can’t live by the rules you can’t expect to see the field. Next man up! Too bad. He has the size these NFL teams look for in a corner. He’s costing himself some serious NFL money.

    1. Ricky, kick this poster off the boards. He needs to be made an example out of. Next poster up.

      1. You condone his selfish actions?? Did I say something offensive?? It wasn’t his first suspension if you didn’t know. But, I guess being from Portland….you’re all about the weed.

        1. LOL. In that pic he’s channeling his inner Aaron Rouse. After ARs breakout year he loved to throw his hands up in the air to work the crowd. Except he didn’t play nearly as well his final season IIRC hurting his draft stock.

      1. Whether it was drugs or some other team rules violation, its still the second time he’s had to be suspended. Somewhere you have to draw the line or the other players start losing respect for the coaching staff. I really don’t want him kicked off for good, but it wouldn’t bother me either if he was.

    1. Rumor mill indicates there is a definite connection with AA and TB. Take that for what its worth.
