The Virginia Tech men’s basketball schedule was released on Thursday afternoon.  The Hokies will open their 2017-18 schedule at home against Detroit Mercy on Friday, November 10 on the ACC Network.

Tech will play Saint Louis and either Providence or Washington in Madison Square Garden as part of the 2K Classic.  Those games will be held on November 16 and November 17 and will be televised by ESPN2.  They host Iowa in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on November 28, and that game will also be televised by ESPN2.

The Hokies have two big road games at SEC programs during the non-conference portion of their schedule.  After beating Ole Miss in Cassell Coliseum last season, they make the return trip to Oxford on Saturday, December 2.  Their Saturday, December 16 matchup with the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington will be televised by ESPN2 at 2 p.m.

The ACC schedule will open on New Year’s Eve with a trip to Syracuse on ESPNU, and Tech’s ACC home opener will come against UVA on Wednesday, January 3.  Overall, 10 of Tech’s 18 ACC games will be televised by ESPN or ESPN2.  The extra television coverage is most likely a result of their NCAA Tournament appearance last year and high expectations heading into the 2017-18 campaign.

The Hokies host North Carolina for a “Big Monday” game on ESPN on Monday, January 22 at 7 p.m.  Their home game with Louisville on Saturday, February 24 will be nationally televised by CBS at 1 p.m.  Two days later, they’ll have another “Big Monday” game in Cassell Coliseum when Duke comes to town for a 7 p.m. ESPN broadcast.

Overall, Tech has 15 games that will be televised nationally by ESPN, ESPN2 or CBS.  Last season they had only six games nationally broadcast by ESPN or ESPN2.

The entire schedule can be viewed here on HokieSports.com.  We will update our schedule page on TechSideline.com in the coming days.
