Few recruits in recent Virginia Tech history have been as hyped as quarterback Quincy Patterson.
Media, analysts and fans alike have praised Patterson, particularly as he’s blown up at the national level this spring and summer. A rising senior at Solorio Academy in Chicago, Patterson had plenty of opportunities to go to a major Power 5 school closer to home. Instead, he’s planning on signing with Virginia Tech.
The relationship began just several months ago, when Virginia Tech reached out in December 2016. Shortly after establishing contact, offensive coordinator Brad Cornelsen flew out to see Patterson in Chicago. An offer came just days later.
Patterson didn’t waste time scheduling a visit to Virginia Tech. He and his family made the trip in early February, and saw everything they wanted to see. The facilities were great, the campus was great and Patterson also got to see the academic side of things.
