Virginia Tech has taken several defensive backs so far in their Class of 2018, and it seems like the Hokies took another on Thursday.
Defensive back Jermaine Waller, a rising senior at The Avalon School in Gaithersburg, Md., announced his commitment to Virginia Tech in the late afternoon.
Waller is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound recruits who’s rated as a 3-star by 247Sports and Rivals. Waller only holds a few Power 5 scholarship offers, including Maryland, NC State, Virginia and Rutgers. Temple, East Carolina, Connecticut and Old Dominion were some of Waller’s other offers.
Virginia Tech now holds commitments from seven potential defensive backs in the Class of 2018. Athletes Nadir Thompson and Armani Chatman could play on offense or defense, while Braxton Clark, Nasir Peoples, DJ Crossen and Chamarri Conner are all slated to play in the secondary. The Hokies are also heavily recruiting cornerback Kalon Gervin, who just visited last weekend.
