Harris is the first offensive lineman to commit to Virginia Tech for the Class of 2018. Harris is a 6-foot-4, 275-pound lineman from Mill Creek High School in Hoschton, Ga. Rivals rates Harris as a 3-star recruit. Several Power 5 programs made a run at Harris, but Virginia Tech seemed to be the favorite for most of his recruitment.

Virginia Tech now has 11 commitments in the Class of 2018 and two just this week, thanks to DJ Crossen. However, since Harris is the first offensive lineman committed for this class, Virginia Tech still has work to do to shore up the trenches.

  1. Welcome to the Hokie Nation John Harris….We’re THRILLED to have you a part of the family..You’ll be GLAD you are a Hokie!

  2. Guys! I am stoked about this kid’s commitment! I watched him play every week at Mill Creek and this kid is a junk yard dog. He plays against the best competition in Georgia and will be a great asset to the future lines at Tech. He dominated DE’s who had scholarship offers to other power five schools. Against McEachern and Grayson they tried everything to get a rusher past him without luck. He reminds me of a young Jake Grove but with the measurables to play tackle. I was worried if UGA made a run at him, the pull to be a dawg would be too strong. He proved me wrong!

  3. Welcome to the Hokie Nation; we need some good road graders to plow open spots for the flashy running backs. Without you guys in the trenches the game just doesn’t work.

Hope to see you out at the Cellar enjoying some of the cuisine to be found in Blacksburg.

    GO HOKIES!!!

  4. What a great get! Mill Creek is a 7 A powerhouse north of Atlanta who was in the state semifinals last year… great program for our coaches to get on the inside..
