MATTHEWS, N.C. — Leading up to April Fool’s weekend, 3-star defensive tackle Joe Kane and his family were preparing to visit Old Dominion in Norfolk, VA. Syracuse was Kane’s only Power 5 offer to this point, so Old Dominion seemed like a realistic option.

Charley Wiles altered those plans just a bit.

“He hit me up on Twitter and said, ‘I need you down here immediately to come watch spring practice,’” Kane said. “I said alright, and that day they offered me. I guess it was meant to be.”

Kane’s visit to Virginia Tech was his first, and the school blew him away.
